CĂaran Malik is a Structural Engineer at Price & Myers as part of the Geometrics Team working on large projects with complicated geometries, smaller art projects with complicated construction or community projects with complicated details.
He enjoys working on projects in variety of materials and scales; from timber bridges to concrete towers, refurbished masonry warehouses to steel frame schools.
He believes it is important to share your skills and knowledge and has worked on humanitarian and community projects in Thailand and Nepal.
To protect our shared heritage he is always keen to work with historic structures and understanding the craft methods used to design and build them.
He is also interested in embracing new technology and using computational methods to develop new designs, re-use older methods and link the design to manufacture process.
This course introduces students to the three core TS branches (structures, environment and materials) and shows they are not separate realities but different lenses for looking at the built environ
Third Year students undertake a comprehensive design study, exploring and resolving the central technical issues of their projects alongside individual unit agendas.
